Winter Small Cube

Hello again everyone!

This week, I had a new release! The next cube in my Small Cube Series is "Winter," and the rest of the seasons will follow throughout 2024.

I think this is my favorite cube that I have designed so far!

Winter is my favorite season of all, because I love watching the snow fall and feeling the calmness it creates.

I loved designing these snowflakes, and seeing how many ways I could make them different. You will see in January that the fun didn't stop with this cube!

This little cardinal is my favorite part of this cube, isn't he so cute? I love watching the cardinals in the winter time, they are so pretty.

This pattern uses 8 DMC colors: Blanc, 310, 311, 321, 322, 414, 498, and 3776. The stitch count is 86x x 114h and finishes into a 2" cube when stitched on 14 count fabric.

Well that's it for me today! I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas has a wonderful holiday, and I will be back in January with my new release!

The Stockings Were Hung...

Hello again everyone!

Today I want to talk about my second Christmas release for 2023! This is "Stockings Were Hung" and it is finished as a flat piece.

Growing up, I never had a fireplace in my house, so we always hung our stockings on the stair railings. This was nice because the staircase was right next to the living room, which is where our main tree was. We also always opened our stockings after opening our presents, and most of the time either my brothers or I would say, "Oh! We forgot our stockings!" Do you have any stocking traditions?

I finished this project in an old baking dish I found while cleaning my grandparents' house out. I also added a double bow, and a background fabric with holly branches on it.

This project uses 4 DMC colors: Blanc, 349, 699, and 839. The stitch count is 63w x 112h, and finishes at 4.5" x 8" when stitched on 14 count fabric.

And that's it! I will be back on Monday with my newest cube pattern, so stay tuned!

Have a great weekend!

Ornaments I

 Hello again everyone!

This week I want to talk about my two Christmas releases: Ornaments I and Stockings Were Hung. In this post I will be focusing on Ornaments I.

One thing you should know about me is that I LOVE making Christmas ornaments! In 2020 I started the tradition of solely stitching Christmas ornaments from Halloween to Christmas, and seeing how many I could get done. I had an absolute blast doing this, and I continued the tradition in 2021 and 2023. (I took 2022 off due to some family things going on and losing my stitchy bug.) I loved seeing the different ways I could finish an ornament, and how to decorate it. One of the finishes I did was on perforated paper, and thus the idea for these ornaments I designed was born!

There are two different shaped ornaments in this set, with three of each kind.

I'm really happy with how these cuties turned out, and I was surprised with how quickly they stitched up!

There are only six DMC colors used for these ornaments: Blanc, E3852, 320, 349, 699, and 801. Each ornament is under 3 inches, and they are stitched on perforated paper.

When finishing these, I added a gold thread to the top behind the stitching to act as a hanger, and I sandwiched a piece of red or green felt onto the back. I think they turned out so cute, what do you think?

That's it for me today, I will be back soon to talk about "Stockings Were Hung!" Have a great day!

It's Pumpkin Time!

Hello again everyone! I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

It finally snowed here in New Jersey! Yesterday it flurried a bit on and off all day, but it never accumulated. And today we had a quick storm that was enough to show up on the ground. So exciting!

Anyway, today I am going to talk about my fall release "Pumpkin Time."

This is one of my favorite releases, because there's just something about a big pumpkin that makes me happy!

I finished this project on a homemade grapevine wreath, which I made this summer from wild vines I found on my family's farm. It was the perfect fit, and I am already kicking myself for not making more smaller wreaths! I added a thin ribbon and a strand of orange doodads (I really don't know if they have a name!) to the wreath, and then added a velvet trim to the stitching.

This pattern stitches up quick with only four DMC colors: 310, 469, 676, and 3776. I found it easiest to outline the sections of the pumpkin and then fill it in during a time I couldn't concentrate as much.

This pattern has a stitch count of 73w x 73h, and finishes 5" x 5" when stitched on 14 count.

And that's all for today! I hope you all have a wonderful day and get to stitch a bunch!

Christmas Freebie Patterns

Hello everyone!

Happy December to you all and I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season! My trees are up, my house is decorated, and I'm almost done Christmas shopping. I have a few more gifts to get, and then I will be having a wrapping palooza. I always find it so much more fun to wrap all my presents at once, rather than piecemeal.

Today I want to share my next set of freebie patterns! These two patterns are to celebrate the Christmas spirit, and they would be perfect in a bowl or tiered tray.

My goal for 2024 is to make a set of freebies like these and my Thanksgiving ones for every holiday! So check back in January for a Valentine's Day set as well!

You can find the patterns down below, and make sure to tag me (@ladybug.stitches) on Instagram if you share your finishes!

Enjoy!
