Valentine's Day Cube

Hello everyone!

The snow is melting and January is coming to an end, so that can only mean Valentine's Day is on its way! My second piece celebrating this holiday was released this week, and it is also my newest cube. "Valentine's Day" is available now in my Etsy shop.

I think this cube might be my new favorite! I love all the different colors, and all of the hearts hidden everywhere.

I had fun figuring out the different sides of this cube, and this side I can honestly say was a surprise! I had planned to put a flower here, and then I added hearts and now it's somewhere between a flower and a collection of hearts! I like to think it's a heart shaped flower, but it's definitely up for interpretation.

I also love this side of the cube. Can you spot the hidden hearts? I thought they blended in nicely.

And here's the last side: a love note! Feel free to add in the name of your significant other instead of  "my love" if you want!

I stitched this cube on a 14 count light purple aida, which I dyed myself. The stitch count is 86w x 114h, and finishes into a 2" cube. This pattern uses 5 DMC colors: 210, 321, 550, 801, and 3806.

I can't wait to add this cube to my Valentine's Day display this year, I think it will look so cute!

Well that's it for me today, I will see you all next week for a special freebie!

All Piled Up - February

Hello everyone! How is it the middle of January already?!

My little area of the world has experienced two snowstorms in the past week, so it looks like winter has finally caught up to us. The temperature today is well below freezing, and I've hunkered down in a pile of blankets.

Right before the storm, I released the next month in the All Piled Up series: February

February is all dolled up in a pile of hearts, ready to spread love to everyone!

I celebrate Valentine's Day by celebrating the love I have for my family, my friends, and my whole community. It is a day to say thank you for having everyone in my life, and to show that I really care for them.

I like viewing Valentine's Day this way, because it really opens up the holiday to everyone!

Just like all the patterns in this series, the stitch count is 70w x 70h, and finishes to be 5" x 5" on 14 count fabric. I used three DMC colors: 3804, 321, and 550. I stitched this design on 14 count hand-dyed pink aida, and I finished it on the same finishing board as the January piece (which can be purchased from Michaels) using magnets and washers.

Well, that's it for me today, I hope you all stay warm out there!

All Piled Up - January

Welcome to 2024!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and are ready for a brand new year! I know I certainly am!

I have a lot of exciting plans for this year, including a lot of new releases and goals, all of which I will be sharing here with you all. I kickstarted the year with the release of my newest pattern, which is the start of a new series as well!

This series is called All Piled Up (or APU for short) and will consist of 12 different monthly designs. Each design will be released on the first of the month, one month before the design is set in, except for January and February. For example, March's design will be released February 1, April's design will be released March 1, etc.

The first pattern in this series is "January - Snowflakes." I loved designing the different snowflakes for this piece, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Each monthly design will follow a similar style, with the same symbol in different sizes, colors, and styles.

I stitched this pattern on 14 count blue and brown hand-dyed aida, using only one DMC color: Blanc. The stitch count is 70w x 70h, and works up to be 5" x 5" when stitched on 14 count. The finishing board for this project can be purchased from Michaels in the unfinished wood section, feel free to paint it any color you wish! I went with a black color so that it would match with more of the patterns, but I think a white or gray would also work. Lastly, I attached the stitched piece and bow to the finishing board by washers and magnets, so I can switch them out for each month.

I hope you all enjoy this series as much as I do! You can stay more up to date with my releases by following my Instagram @ladybug.stitches and follow my Etsy shop LadybugStitchesShop.

That's it for me, I hope you all have a great day!
